Oil Painting for the Absolute Beginner (Tuesdays, 6:30pm, 1/10-2/28/17)

Are you interested in painting in oil, but unsure how to get started? If so, then this is the course for you. You'll get a solid foundation and an understanding of Oil Painting basics. This course is open to people taking Oil Painting for the first time, those returning after time away and those who feel that their technical skills might benefit from revisiting the basics.

We ask those students who have already taken painting courses with Rob Pollien to consider joining the figure study group instead.

Eight weeks: Tuesdays 6:30 to 9 PM 1/10/2017 to 2/28/2017

Materials: Titanium White, yellow ochre, cadmium yellow light, permanent red violet, ultramarine blue, burnt sienna, raw umber, ivory black, Turpenoid or odorless solvent for brush cleaning, paper towels, nitrile (or similar) gloves. And a few #4 and #6 natural bristle flat brushes, disposable or other palette, palette knife. Canvas Pad, 10 Sheets 14" × 18" or similar, a drawing board for your sheets of canvas may also be helpful.

Easels are provided but if you have a portable easel that you like, you are welcome to bring it.

About the instructor:
Bar Harbor artist Robert Pollien hold an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. Rob is a local artist, teacher and a former Acadia National Park Artist in Residence. For more information,  visit his website, http://pollien.com/
